A song full of truth and sadness with a video that completes it perfectly. Telling a story of her less than happy birthday, its tragically beautiful. The lyrics pull at your heartstrings and paired with the stunning self-directed music video you can feel the emotions flowing through the screen.
If you know Melanie you can see how her it all is. Her signature sound with a hint of freshness sprinkled over top, a perfect mix.
Small things make it all the better. A scream thrown in after the bridge shows the characters emotional pain, channelling her sadness for all to hear. The tearing apart of the stuffed animals adds an almost insane element.
All considered 'Pity Party' is a song well worth listening to again and again. I cannot wait to hear more from such a truly talented artist. The album, 'Cry Baby' is to be released on the 14th of August and if all the songs are of the same quality people will be queuing to buy it.
